Suan Dek Home

Day Care Center for Special needs Children.

Khun Busarincha helps 25 children with Intellectual and Physical disabilities, and their families in the province of Nakhon Pathom.

Suan Dek Home is attended by 10 children daily. The other 15 children live too far away in the province to attend. Khun Busarincha visits and assists these families from time to time, helping them with council for their children.

All these children are severely handicapped and need 24 hour care, they are either Autistic or Down’s syndrome, or have mental disabilities. So the center assists the parents, with respite care so they can work. The children attending the Day Care Center range from 10 years up.

Our Goal:

We help the staff with supplies, and also with any physical improvements on the building. The center has minimal financial help, so needs a lot of assistance. We also have participated in their Children’s Day activities throughout the years.

The center tries to provide case by case support for the parents. In the past the center provided, once a year a camping trip where the parents also came. In the evenings they could get together and encourage each other in the care of their child. All this was provided for all 25 children and their parents in the area. This helped the parents to feel the support of the center. However due to financial circumstances, and lack of volunteer helpers Khun Busarincha cannot provide this services, every year.

We do wish to see this service resumed in the future; with the continued help of our friends we could make this a reality for the children and parents which always brighten up their year.

In the time we have been helping this center it has moved twice. The first building was small and old   in need of a lot of repairs, we were able to help with painting, electrical work, fixing the ceiling in the kitchen which was eaten by termites. This all made the property safer for the children. We also donated desks and educational equipment.

The center has minimal financial help. The parents help as much as they can, but most come from very poor backgrounds, and the center needs a lot of financial help to keep it going.

A few years ago Khun Busarincha was told she had to move the center. She only had a month to find a new place.  A friend of one of the parents of the children attending her home told Khun Busarincha about a place that she could move to. The only draw backs was, it was only half finished, it needed electricity and water installed, bathrooms built and ceiling and walls finished, it also needed a kitchen and dining room to be built.

The owner was willing to let her stay for 5 years rent- free if she agreed to fix it up. Even though this was a big endeavor, she could not find anything else that would suit the needs of her center. This house is only 5 kilometer from her old place and has adequate land.

Since then the electricity has been installed the water brought to her center, ceilings put in and walls made.  We helped with, installing a water pump and tank, 3 bathrooms built with a sink area.  Through donations, a fence, 2 large awning have been put up, ground cemented,  tables, TV, water cooler, swing for the children, fans, computers, kitchen sink, working top table for the kitchen, rice cooker, grass cutter have all been supplied. Plus a few time we have been able to supply a few months of basic needs for everyone.
